Introducing Project Beloved Community

Project Beloved Community offers a ten-year plan to transform Philadelphia’s economy through democratic ownership–of housing, of business, of financial institutions, of our collective future. Philadelphia faces an affordability emergency and out neighborhoods crumble while Wall Street banks extract our wealth. This is not inevitable. It is a policy choice, and we can choose differently.

We can address immediate harm as we build toward the future. We can replace the resources taken by the Trump Administration and repair the long-term damage of structural racism, through nine interconnected tools: A Philadelphia Public Bank to keep our money working locally. Pension fund investments directed to our community needs. Worker, consumer, and housing cooperatives. Community Land Trusts for permanent affordability. Living wages for all city-connected workers. And Community safety through investment and restoration, not incarceration.
