PPFA Board Application

Qualified, interested individuals are encouraged to apply to serve as members of the Board of Directors for the recently approved Philadelphia Public Financial Authority.

The Philadelphia Public Financial Authority is a new independent entity created to promote community economic development by developing a project or affiliate of the authority that will become a public bank. The Authority will engage in activities directed toward improving the social and economic conditions of all Philadelphians, with a preferential directive to serve the financial needs of underserved residents, small businesses and economically distressed areas.

Leadership Positions

At this time, applications are being solicited for:

  • Board of Directors – a 9-member body appointed by the Mayor.

In the future, the PPFA will also be seeking applicants for:

  • Investment and Lending Policy Advisory Board (aka “Policy Board”) – a 9-member body designated by the PPFA Board of Directors

Nomination and Application Process

Applicants to either board must be recommended by Philadelphia-based community groups substantially focused on one or more of the following advocacy areas:

  1. Environmental Justice
  2. Racial Justice
  3. Low-income Housing
  4. Public Education
  5. Public Health
  6. Cooperative Development
  7. Neighborhood-based Small Business Development
  8. Gender Justice
  9. Public Transportation

There are 3 ways to apply: use the official application on City Council’s Website, using a Google Form or via emailed PDF.

  1. City Council Application: http://www.phlcouncil.com/ppfa
  2. Google Form: Fill out the form and submit it. You must have a Google account to use this method.
  3. Emailed PDF: Please complete this form to apply to be on the Philadelphia Public Financial Authority Board of Directors. The completed form should be emailed along with a copy of your resume and your Community Organization Reference Letter(s) to frank.iannuzzi@phila.gov and info@philapublicbanking.org.

The Philadelphia Public Banking Coalition will submit all applications and information collected to the Mayor and City Council for their consideration. Applications should be submitted by June 14, 2022.
